AC/DC: 'Family Jewels' DVD Certified Platinum In Germany
September 11, 200523 weeks after its release, AC/DC's "Family Jewels" DVD is still in the Top 100 on the German album chart. The two-disc set, which was recently certified platinum in Germany, went straight to No. 1 on the DVD chart and reached No. 7 on the regular album chart (music DVDs are allowed to enter album charts in Germany). Last week's position in the album chart was No. 78 and this week it is at No. 90.
"Family Jewels", which also debuted at No. 1 on DVD charts in the U.S., U.K., France, Italy, Norway and Austria, is the band's first-ever documentary collection of early television performances, video clips and never-before-seen footage. Disc One is devoted to the Bon Scott era and dates back to an early appearance on television show "Countdown", with AC/DC performing "Baby Please Don't Go", featuring Bon Scott in a schoolgirl uniform. Disc Two centers around Brian Johnson. It captures a 10-year era from the "Back In Black" album in 1980 and finishes with the "Are You Ready" clip from 1991.
